History Archiving Early America historical documents from 18th century America Dictionary of Wisconsin history The online dictionary gives brief lives of more than 2,000 famous Wisconsin people. It provides the exact location of 4,000 communities in the state, lets you see them on maps, air photos, or satellite image with a single click, and explains how every county and 800 cities and towns got their names. Dozens of historical events are summarized. More than 100 broad topics such as "roads in Wisconsin" or "Indian treaties" are summarized and linked to more detailed information in our online collections, exhibits, and photo galleries. A handy "Suggestions?" link on every page allows readers to propose improvements. You can even submit your own entries when you discover an important topic that hasn't been included yet. Wisconsin Pioneer Experience An online "collection of diaries, letters, reminiscences, speeches and other writings of people who settled and built Wisconsin."
