The Internet can be a wonderful place for kids, and fortunately there are many
excellent sites that have been created specifically for children, parents and anyone who
cares about kids. The sites below offer help for homework questions, tips for
parents, and information on college selection and financial aid. |
Homework Helpers
Great Sites for Kids
ALA 700+ Great Sites.
American Library Association's site for kids, parents and teachers which
includes links to arts and entertainment, literature and language, people past and
present, and science/technology. Highly recommended.

Yahooligans!
Kids site developed by the creators of Yahoo!--and just like the original,
it's easy and fun to use. Highly recommended, particularly for younger children.

KidsConnect.
KidsConnect is an email question and answer referral service for K-12 students on
the Internet, sponsored in part by ALA and Syracuse University. It also links to online courses designed for school

NASA Kids.
Designed for students from kindergarten through 8th grade, this site has lots of
great information on science and technical subjects. Also includes a Teacher's
Corner with NASA resources for educators.

Ask Jeeves for Kids!
Ask Jeeves! uses its natural language search engine here to help kids with
questions. AJ first searches a database of selected sites, then begins a parallel
search filtered by SurfWatch.

College Board Online. This area of College Board
Online is a search engine which attempts to match prospective students with sources of
non-college financial aid (sources outside the college itself). Highly recommended.

- BrokeScholar. search
through a database of more than 900,000 college scholarships. In order
for BrokeScholar to find scholarships for which you are eligible, you need to
provide the site with some personal information. BrokeScholar shows you
each scholarship's name, how much money is available, and the application
deadline. Click on the name of any scholarship and BrokeScholar shows you more
in-depth information about that scholarship including applicable majors and
schools, contact information, and even a link to the scholarship provider's
Web site.
